I early-voted on Saturday, and I'm not confident at all that my vote will be counted or that it won't be flipped. I live in Illinois, but the very idea that my vote could "spoil" for JiSM III makes me sick to my stomach. The pamphlets sent out to voters in my county stated that a paper ballot would be an option, but there were NO paper ballots at my early voting site, only these awful touch screen machines. I almost said "No thank you" and went home, and now I wish I had, or at least raised more of a fuss.

BradBlog has more coverage on ILLEGAL vote flipping in West Virginia. Is anyone still in doubt as to whether this is partisan or not? Oh, yes, all of these DVMs made by rich Republican-donating companies just mysteriously seem to spoil 100% for McCain. You conspiracy theorists need to be on a rooftop somewhere.

I'm sick and tired of this. I want to live in a country that has fair elections, and I want it NOW. Not next year, not after the inauguration, but immediately. I want my vote to say what I say.

No more bullshit voter fraud "scandals" while illegal, felonious election fraud goes uncovered by the media. No more Secretaries of State rigging their elections through caging and purge lists and getting off scot-free. No more updated Jim Crow laws.

I demand for the U.N. to supervise our elections, whether the U.S. wants them there or not. I demand that all electronic voting machines be thrown in the garbage. I demand a standardized ballot. I demand a paper trail and an objective authority to oversee vote counting. I demand these things as a citizen of a democratic country.

I would say you should write to your congresspeople, but it's too damn ironic. What the hell, do it anyway. Email is free and quick, so spam the shit out of every news organization, election watchdog, and government employee that you can. That's what I'll be doing for the next week.

This is THE most important issue in this election.

Edit: A great piece by RFK Jr. via HuffPo on the ACORN bullshit the GOP is spewing. Like thousands of diaries and blog posts and angry people have said before, voter fraud is a non-issue; the number of people convicted of it in a given election can be counted on ONE HAND out of millions of voters. Equating an individual case of voting incorrectly with throwing millions of votes in swing states in the dumpster is criminal disinformation.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Election fraud is the preferred tactic of the GOP.

Obama office and tell them what went on or ask them who you could talk to.  There is a lot more voters to vote yet.  You can make a difference.  Unless people know they can't do anything about it.  This is one way for you to work until election day.  It isn't all phone banking and canvassing and getting out the vote.  It is also things like this.  If there are no ballot backups in case of malfunctioning machines all the efforts to get people to the polls almost seems pointless if they can't vote.

    But more than just WV!!!

Votes flipping in addtional states!!!   TN, MO and now TX!

This is just getting worse and worse. Now it's happening in Texas. (And in MO, if you read to the end of the article). And the vaunted "thousands of attorneys" from the Obama campaign and the DNC are still nowhere to be found.

With every incident so far reported of touch-screen vote-flipping during early voting in this year's general election --- from county to county in WV and in Nashville, TN) --- it's been the ES&S iVotronic touch-screen machine that has failed, flipping votes from one candidate to another not chosen by the voter. In most every instances [see update below], it's been an attempted Democratic vote, flipped to a Republican, or another party.

These are the same machines that lost 18,000 votes in Democratic-leaning Sarasota County in the 2006 U.S. House Race for Katherine Harris' old seat. The Democrat, Christine Jennings, was declared the loser to Republican Vern Buchanan (whose own wife had trouble voting for him that day), by just 369 votes. Several academic studies, and even the GAO, have been unable to rule out either tampering or hardware/software error for the disappeared 18,000 votes.

Because if it isn't, it sure ought to be - with a huge helping of jail time attached. Ten years in Danbury FCI sounds about right to me....
