This was an article I started a week ago, and sat on it because in the past I have had an out cry that I was wrong on this. But in light of some new evidence, this may be coming sooner than we think. Read on and you be the judge.....
Let's hope I am wrong, but I don't think I am. The administration is now drafting a bill that will require all citizens of the USA to give four years of military service, or civic service which will included, working for Home Land Security, and other areas on national security. Today the National Security Council will meet to discuss the war on terror and the need for the drat to be brought back in a form that will be more acceptable to the voting public.
Under the Bill the draftee will have a choice to go into the military, or work for a public service. One of the other things being looked at is a college draft, due to the more complicated weaponry being used by the military, and the need for doctors, they are looking into the feasability of an intelligence draft. This is going to up the college registration?
General Richard Cody the Army's Vice Chief of Staff, told the congress that, he believes that a draft is unavoidable, according to a Stars and Stripes article. The all voluntary military is facing a crisis.
As recruiting hits an all time low, with no recovery in sight. This causing the military to force troops to extend their tour of duty. Cody testified on Capital Hill that he is losing sleep at night thinking about what the military will look like in the future, if the All Volunteer Military, is the only tool we use.
"What keeps me awake at night is what this all-volunteer force will look like in 2007," Gen. Richard Cody told lawmakers recently on Capital Hill.
"This is the first time we've taken the all-volunteer force into an extended fight," Cody said. "It's not a Kosovo, it's not a Bosnia, it's not a [Multinational Force and Observers peacekeeping mission] in the Sinai," he said. "It is a war. On any given day, we have 156,000 soldiers for 12 months in a combat zone, as well as -- still -- all those other commitments."
"I worry about the soldiers with their second and third tour by '07 since 9/11," Cody said.
It is inevitable that there is going to be more confrontations, and the need for the buildup of troops. Do I agree with this? No, not all! But knowing this administration, they don't care what the majority wants. If the majority goes against the administration, they change the rule of majority.
With Secretary of State Rice, flying around the globe trying to drum up support for another invasion, this time it looks like Syria is the target of the administration. It became clear when the administration, began pushing for UN sanction against Syria, and Bush almost ordering them into a special section to vote on the sanctions. So the outlook on peace is very bleak, and no end to the Bush cabal's warring ways. Back in the beginning of this campaign, some of the talking heads were casually tossing around the figure of 7,000 dead American troops would be the limit before the people stage an uprising. That figure is based on an all volunteer military. Restart the draft and you may wind up with a revolution.
The only good thing that could ever come of a draft, is that the people would shout down this warmongering administration. To this point very few people have protested this administration, and the draft might just put a bee in their bonnet. But let me make it very clear this is very sad if this is what it takes after all they have done to this country, and those who defend it. All I can say is shame on you.

Election Day
One of the true differences between liberals and neo-cons is the sentence, "If you don't like America leave it." Liberals will tell you, "If you don't like it fix it." As you might guess, I'm a liberal, but no a true liberal, (Sorry.) There is one thing I will not stand for, being called Republican, nor am I Democrat. There are a few things I don't follow to a tee. Take the death penalty. I believe in the death penalty. There are personal reasons for that, and I won't get into that. I appal abortions, but I am Pro-choice. Most people are.
I live in Western Pennsylvania, and we really have some dismal choices this time around, although the candidates would tell you differently. They for the most part, the same old, same old. I don't think I will even waste my time with the state, county candidates, and concentrate on the local.
Today starts the beginning of classes on ethics, morals, and how to handle classified material, in the White House. All White House staffers must attend. Talk about a day late and trillions of dollars short. If you are wondering who came up with this great idea, it was Harriet Miers.
