There are definitely reasons not to write this. To show concern (interpreted as fear) could add to a final push by McCain supporters. But to not write this, at the risk of letting complacency creep in with only 6 days to go is too much. The R2k tracking poll as many other national polls are showing a trend. Even though it was foreseeable that the race would tighten, they generally do, in the final stretch, does not make it any more palatable. More concerning is the fact that individual state polls are showing similar trends.
For amusement purposes, sometimes I find myself reading through the comments on stories at the Drudge Report, though I will admit the net result is not amusing sometimes, but downright depressing with the amount of hate contained in the comments, liberals are guilty as well. One theme I have seen though, from mainstream media to comments from liberals and conservatives is the thought, or acceptance, that this race is a foregone conclusion.
The error in that assessment is too obvious to need to clarified, but let me point out one more thing. Even if that were correct, to maintain that philosophy will only serve to deflate the enthusiasm, make tentative voters not see the importance of their votes, and all in all suppress our momentum. It may be true that Obama is headed for a victory, but stop believing that. Walk around as if it were in jeopardy, true jeopardy and let that help dictate your speech and actions these last few days. The payoff will not only be an Obama victory, but equally as important, many down ticket races as well.
