OK so I'm pretty much fed up with seeing "Breaking" "Bombshell" "Landslide Coming" "Game Over" etc etc etc in the titles of so many diaries. So I am using this "diary" to promote my own agenda. I am proposing a ban on all election related words once the campaigns end. Please feel to nominate words or phrases that you are sick of or hate with every ounce of your being.
Without further adieu...the nominees...
- GAME CHANGER - I am so sick of this phrase - I die a little inside when it's used
1a) MY FRIENDS... /vomit
- BREAKING - yeah it's new news, just like the 15 other diaries posted before yours...
- BOMBSHELL - it's not a bombshell if only DKos people care about it...
- CHANGE AGENT - really? sigh...such a made up word - like "Upside Potential" in the NBA draft
- PITBULL/LIPSTICK/etc - self-explanatory
- SOCIALISM - Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
- Joe The Plumber - nuff said...
- Redistribution of Wealth - see #6
- Liberal Media Elite (or some variation on that theme) - It's not really a liberal media bias when you happen to have run one of the worst campaign's in modern political history. Not their fault you suck...
- In the tank - another useless term coined for the vast political arena that has far too few descriptive phrases for biased media elites...
- FAIL - added by popular demand...
I'm sure there are far more, so please feel free to nominate them. Should your nominated phrase win the popular vote as well as McCain winning the election, you will receive, as a parting gift, my broken ceiling fan as I will be leaving the country.
UPDATES - words I forgot...
1 - FAIL
2 - Under the bus
3 - MAVERICK - WTF - how I forgot this is mindblowing...thank you Abbysomething (abby normal maybe?)
4 - Trickle Down
5 - Pitch Perfect
6 - meme
7 - Joe six-pack
8 - Main St. - I'm on the fence about this one...but I'll throw it in to see if it sinks or swims...
another random update - from jrandomposter...
In a bombshell game changer announcement, Joe the Plumber accused some bloggers at DKos, part of the liberal media liberal elite, of attempting to redistribute the wealth mojo through censorship of the jargon used on that site. In a pitch perfect comment, Joe Six Pack of Main Street chimed in, calling the use of such jargon "socialism". Hockey moms chorused their approval, saying that Joe was a change agent.
The initial reaction of many bloggers was varied. Many called for throwing Joe under the bus, saying that his comments were "epic fail". Other's pointed out that it was a mavericky thing to say, and noted that mojo could not trickle down if Joe's meme were accepted, calling the idea putting lipstick on a pig.
My friends, we have to be concerned about this contraversy.
