They're excited about voting in Wyoming:
CODY, WYOMING - A record number of early votes are being cast in Park County, Wyoming. And, because of Wyoming's liberal registration law, the turnout on election day could exceed 100% of the number of already registered voters.... Park County Clerk Kelly Jensen says, "We’ve already surpassed the requests for absentee ballots. So the number coming back in is going to be, we believe, by far record numbers." Jensen says she’s talked to election officials in other Wyoming counties.
Excellent news, but with a caveat:
There may be one other election day challenge. Republican Cynthia Lummis and Democrat Gary Trauner running for Congress, are very close in the polls. Jensen explains, "In the case where there are only two candidates if the number of votes is within 1%, then there is an automatic recount required."
So all those early voters and new registrants make the difference we need them to make, and don't make all of us go through the agony of a recount in Wyoming, help Trauner now.
We have a goal to help get his message to all of Wyoming. By getting to $120,000 on our Orange to Blue page, we can help him with the $70,000 he needs to go on the air with a last minute blitz.
But he needs that help now.
We've made it almost halfway to the goal so far, with $33,000 raised. That's fantastic, but Gary still needs that other $37,000. Don't let up now. Finish this off before Friday, and get Gary to Congress.
Update: I just got an e-mail from Gary, saying that in large part thanks to netroots support over the past few days, he's been able to get his ads on in the Salt Lake market through Sunday. We're revising our goal, because now he only needs another $15,000 to stay on the air Monday through 5:00 Tuesday.
Just another $15,000 and we can get Gary across the line!
