I recently discovered a delightful little blog called, plainly enough, Margaret and Helen, in which two charming octogenarian ladies offer their unique views of the presidential election and other political issues.
It's definitely worth a look...
Most of the posts are written by Helen Philpot, a witty and talented writer whom offers her opinions on this year's presidential race in a most unfiltered way.
From a post on Oct 12 regarding the woman at the McCain rally whom thought Obama an Arab:
My hat’s off to McCain for trying to set the record straight about Obama not being an Arab, but what does it say about his judgment that he handed a live microphone to Ma and Pa Kettle in the first place? I mean what truck and tractor pull was cancelled to make room for that stop on the Straight Talk Express?
Helen is just getting warmed up. The 82 year-old Texan's take on McCain relying on Sarah Palin for advice on the economy:
But this is the person who is going to explain the complexities of one of the largest economies on the globe to John McCain. I’m pretty sure they don’t have enough fingers and toes between them to count that high. (By the way, I say one of the largest economies because under George W. Bush’s Confederacy of Dunces the European Union flew past us.)
Ok, one more for the road. This is from Helen's post entitled "Damn those poor people ruin everything.
Her take on Palin's $150k wardrobe:
What really gets my goat is that I could have put that same wardrobe together at JC Penny for about $300 with enough money left over for a piece of pie and coffee. Are you telling me THAT is the best they could do with $150,000? I know I’ve seen the same three outfits about a dozen times this week alone. And when this is all over, it all goes to charity. Well isn’t that just rich? Don’t give them health insurance, give them designer clothing. Honestly, only a Republican could have come up with that one.
Trust me,if you go there, you'll laugh. With the stress and anxiety of the election season building,I found their blog quite refreshing.
