I live in Texas-22, you know, Tom DeLay's old district and redistricting should have made this a completely safe seat for any Republican...
But, I go over to one of my favorite sites.... http://www.burntorangereport.com/ and see a diary entry that reads:
LAMPSON PROJECTED TO WIN:
Okay, this girl has read nothing except how Olson is up by 15 points because of this being such a heavily Republican area. I really thought it was kind of a lost cause myself (I know, I need to think more positively).
But you know, there has also been immense growth out here as well, and it is diversified growth. In fact, I think Sugar Land, which is nestled in TX-22 was noted as one of the most diverse cities in the Nation recently. I don't care what part of town you go to, it has a wonderful variety of colors and cultures and they are mostly upper middle-class to the very wealthy, and also younger, new-money types.
So, I click on the link the Burnt Orange Report has and there is a wonderful memo explaining the internals of why Lampson has such a good chance to win this one.
Remember, TX-22 was the Republicans ONLY house seat they had a chance to take from a Democrat and even it is seriously on the line for them now!!!!
