The majority of Americans have rejected the "conservative" idealogy that has brought us needless wars, a financial crisis, corruption, unwarrented spying, and an economy that has only benefited the already-rich. They're rejecting it even in "red" states like Indiana, where the Republican Party has turned to blatant attempts at voter suppression simply because
they know they're losing:
The Indiana Republican Party just lost what looks like its last chance to shut down early voting centers in three heavily Democratic cities in Lake County.
A state appeals court judge has ruled, as expected, that the centers can stay open -- backing an earlier ruling by a county court.
County Republicans had sued to shut down the centers, arguing that a unanimous vote - rather than a simple majority -- of the county election board was required to open them.
And now, Dan Cooper, has been forced to resign from the gun-manufacturing company he co-founded, simply because he supports Barack Obama and Democrats:
Cooper, founder and part owner of Cooper Firearms, told USA TODAY in a story published Tuesday that he has voted for Republicans for most of his life, but he is backing Obama "probably because of the war. And also because the Republican Party has moved so far right in recent years." Cooper said he was attracted to the Democrat's message about "the retooling of America, which involves the building of middle-class jobs and helping American small business be competitive with those overseas."
The USA TODAY article sparked outrage from some gun owners and bloggers, including an open letter on a blog called Firearms and Freedom, urging people to boycott the company's products. Many gun enthusiasts believe Obama will try to restrict their right to bear arms, although he has said he respects the Second Amendment.
The company posted a statement Wednesday night on its website that said:
"The employees, shareholders and board of directors of Cooper Firearms of Montana do not share the personal political views of Dan Cooper. Although we all believe everyone has a right to vote and donate as they see fit, it has become apparent that the fallout may affect more than just Mr. Cooper. It may also affect the employees and the shareholders of Cooper Firearms. The board of directors has asked Mr. Cooper to resign as President."
How "pure" is the Republican Party becoming as they finally lose their grip on our country? Well apparently you can't attend rallies even though you voted for McCain simply because you don't look right:
"I saw a couple that had been escorted out and they were confused as well, and the girl was crying, so I said ‘Why are you crying? and she said ‘I already voted for McCain, I’m a Republican, and they said we had to leave because we didn’t look right,’" Elborno said. "They were handpicking these people and they had nothing to go off of, besides the way the people looked."
Well, facism, voter suppression, and superficial purity: that sums up the modern day Republican-fascist party of Sarah "gold digger" Palin, who wants to join?
