This is my very first diary so please bear w/me!
As the campaign nears the finish line I rejoice at the energetic campaign run by the Democratic Party this year. Nope, this is not the same party as in 2000 or 2004. The campaign led by the two Davids has redefined strategy and shown that one doesn't have to run a negative campaign to be seen as an adept leader (hear that Senator McCain?)
However, as we've seen unfortunately in the 2000 election, fraud and badly designed ballots do count in the end. I remember that a large portion of the electorate saw both George W Bush and Al Gore as two very similar candidates who would rule in the same way (how wrong they were, oh how wrong they were!) hence a lot of leftist supporters voted for Ralph Nader. How did that vote turned out, eh?
What I want to know but cannot find out is does the Democratic Party plan to have many lawyers in the voting prescints, on site, ready to operate as soon as a glitch or GOP-voter suppression tactics come up next tuesday? The size of the USA and the number of voting places guarantees that some problems will arise, problems that can be quickly resolved if lawyers for the Dems are on site or just a quick phone call away.
I hope that I worry for nothing and that the Democrats have planned a huge temporary law firm of lawyers all over the place to deal w/whichever mishaps big or small is bound to happen on such an important election.
So please post in the comments section what you've all heard re: the legal precautions that the Obama team has in place for tuesday's vote.
Update 1
So I have the answers I need. Just as I thought... Many lawyers are working the prescints (voluntarilly!) and more will be there on tuesday.
