I was supposed to vote yesterday, but by the time i got off work and went by the
election board, the line was a block long and my GirlFriend was hungry and tired
and wanted to get out of there.
So i went down this morning, and the line was 4 blocks long, and about 4 hours long.
So i figured i'd come back at 1, towards closing time
I got in line and they passed out chits to everyone in line saying if you got a chit at 1 PM
then we will vote you no matter what. The city had some police and a poll worker to monitor
the end of the line and they were sending people away.
I was the tail of the line, so i heard people promising to come back monday or tuesday.
but then she came.
And I decided i wasn't going to vote. Not for Barack, Not now.
Because of her.
small, tired, asian, i guess. She said her daughter had been sick all morning so she had been
taking care of her. She said she was a single mom. The line tenders were quite sympathetic but
firm and suggested she come to vote monday or tuesday.
then she started to cry.
She said she would be working double shifts monday and tuesday and would miss voting
and she really wanted to vote.
So after having stood in line about an hour, i asked the poll workers if i could give her my ticket
and they said that would be fine.
So i guess i'll sneak out monday at lunch and vote, and some single mom will have cast her
vote for change.
Oh and this is Oklahoma, and deep in red america and people were shedding tears to vote
and standing hours in line.
and there are reasons not to vote, if it means some other voter can vote, so i'm sorry i didn't
vote today, but, i'm not real sorry because she got to vote, and maybe just maybe, we
can make a better america
So what's up, B?
Change
By the way the Early voting numbers here in Oklahoma are huge.
On Firday the local board reported more people had voted at noon on friday then had
all day in 2004 on friday.
on saturday, the line was 4 blocks long, and it was a huge festive atmosphere.
the local papers say the numbers who voted by noon was almost as much turnout
as 2004. they are looking at almost double the turnout.
this may be a big enough deal that we may have inhofe lose, Obama win and
the first openly gay statewide official

Oklahoma County Election Board worker Joy Harris says the office was flooded with voters and that there appeared to be a lot more than there were on Friday. A total of 5,154 people cast early ballots in the county on Friday.
High turnout for early voting also continued at the Tulsa County Election Board. Officials say more than 700 people voted in the first two hours of early voting Saturday and lines formed outside the Election Board office for blocks.

A voter showed up at 4:30 a.m. for an 8 a.m. start to the first of three days of in-person absentee voting at the Oklahoma County Election Board office, 4201 Lincoln Blvd.
Young arrived at 7:30 a.m. By the time he exited the building around 9 a.m., proudly displaying his "I Voted” sticker, the line was out the door and around the corner.
It stretched across the front of the election board and Langston University-Oklahoma City, and then out to the parking lot, where it began to snake back and forth. At one point, cars were backed up in the right-hand southbound lane of Lincoln Boulevard almost to Interstate 44.
