Jim Lindgren at The Volohk Conspiracy has attacked Obama on a new theory that amounts to a November surprise. Briefly, Lindgren's theory is that:
(1) in the 1960s the firm Business International "had closer ties to SDS than any other mainstream business in the world";
(2) After graduating from Columbia in 1983, Obama’s first full time job was to work for Business International; and, therefore,
(3) by implication, Obama is linked to the SDS.
Lindgren has invited comments to his substantive post, but he invitation is interesting in two respects. First, only those who "worked for Business International in the 1980s or with Barack Obama at NYPIRG in 1984-85," and could presumably support Lindgren's thesis, are "free to leave comments here."
Secondly, Lindgren adopted the tactic of: (1) not allowing comments on the substantive post; and (2) allowing comments only on a separate, "one-liner" post. That way if any other blog or new organization links to Lindgren's substantive post and argument (i.e., "Obama’s first fulltime employer, Business International, had substantial SDS ties in the 1960s"), they will not pick up or link to any comments the question the validity of Lindgren's reasoning, or any other dissenting comments.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: Please make sure any comments made on the linked post, are respectful, substantive, persuasive (know your audience) and NOT counter-productive.
