Ever since a saw Les Miserables back n the 80s I've turned to its music for inspiration. As we sit, hopefully, at the turning point to a new period of American History here's a clip from one of the major anniversary performances of Le Miz-- ONE DAY MORE Its takes a bit to get going, but its worth the 3+ minutes.
I find it particularly Democratic to take inspiration from a musical set in France; we all know how those Republicans and other "real Americans" think the French are ______. Their wimpy health care system that covers everyone and doctors do house calls, their crazy ideas about requiring people to take vacations.
Beyond that, Victor Hugo stands out as one of the most gifted writers and fighters for Social Justice who also played a significant role in his nation's politics. He finally was elected to serve in the legislature after the 1848 Revolution that formed the Second Republic of France. If you have not read Les Miserables, its a good literary goal, and at 1500 pages it takes some doing.
Here's another piece of good news--yesterday afternoon Obama surged 3 points on Intrade to a high of 88.5, this morning, last I checked he's at 89.7. McCain is at an all time low of 11. This is betting money. It sure looks like the betting money isn't buying any of the "Late McCain Surge" garbage. You can see for yourself here: Intrade
In case the clip in the intro wasn't enough for you--here's another shorter jolt: Do You Hear the People Sing
