You have to give the Republicans credit. They are persistent. They have worked for years on one, straightforward method: dumb down the electorate!
Convince the populace that logic is "elitism;" that education can only be effectively measured on multiple choice tests; that schools have been corrupted by the rising of selfish, incompetent teachers who want to "do their own thing."
This isn't a diary about something that's happened in this campaign! It's a "conscience-raising" rant about the effort to dumb down the electorate so that rants and chants could win elections.
"Drill, Baby, Drill!"
"Obama is a communist--he wants to share the wealth and share his toys"
"Elitism"..."Socialism"..."Terrorist"
A campaign of 22 months that appealed to the lowest common denominator of intelligence, epitomized by "Joe the Plumber," a guy who refused to take courses to get licenced, who doesn't know beans about Middle East politics, and who climbs to fame by denying all of the realities about his economic status and really wants to be a country music star...
The Republicans have worked for decades to empower the illogical; they have worked to enrich people (like Neil Bush) who develop measures of accountability for education that depend upon lack of logic!
Tomorrow is the test. Tomorrow is the day in which we challenge the American people to wake up and use an IQ of 3 figures.
Final exam! The essay question is not about American politics. It's about whether over the last ten years the Republicans have been able to corrupt American education enough to empower the idiots!
This isn't just an election. It's a final exam. How much have we failed as Americans and empowered people like Joe the Plumber who glories in his ignorance...How far have we empowered the reverse-elitism of the ignorant.
Read the results tomorrow and decide how low our American educational system has fallen.
