KOS embodies people powered politics. When Barrack says "Yes We Can". He means Us (not just us, either, but we are also connected, which is powerful.)
I know everyone, like me, is jonesing to know, did we do it this time? How big will the margin of victory be, and so on.
At this point, polls are useless. They give a guide, but you'll note that they are sometimes a bit wrong. Occasionally, they are wrong, and sometimes for technical reasons, wrong in the same direction.
Exit polling also sucks due to differing factors, including enthusiasm gaps (of which there is a large gap this year.) If exit polls were to be believed then we'd be reelecting John Kerry.
So... there's really no way to get good "early" results, right? Wrong.
Your diary can help us fill in the gaps.
If you live in a battleground state, and am voting today, your diary can tell us some good information.
Useful information to include in a battleground voting report
- State and area
- What kind of precinct (urban, suburban, rural, small town)
- How long the line was, and the time you voted (wait time, distance)
- Rough demographic makeup of the voters, especially noting unusual patterns
- Ease of voting
- Any interesting discussions you might have had
- Changes from previous voting experience (longer or shorter line, different crowd makeup, easier or harder voting)
I'm probably missing some, but I'm sure commenter can fill in missing questions.
If we can get enough high quality report diaries, we'll be ahead of the curve informationally, and thats certainly something welcome.
I'm off to volunteer in a few minutes. If you can, go do that rather than writing a diary about your battleground. If you did vote in an area that we need to win, spend a few minutes telling us how it went.
