Swing State Mania - Here's my slice of it.
I voted today! Finally. After waiting 8 years I find myself in the battle swing state. The state everyone loves to say almost always picks the winner. This is my first swing state I've ever voted in, having lived in IL (Chicago), New York (NYC), and Washington (DC), it's pretty simple to say that I've been in Democrat country and I know where my vote is going to go. (except for taxation w/o representation land).
So today started out smoothly, I arrived at 6am to a line which was stretching 4 blocks. Fox 5 was there, Russ Carnahan was out shaking hands around 6:30am (and also in line to vote). This is a big deal.
Obama had "voting organizers" out (I saw about 3) to help with any questions. The few things I noticed off hand -- the poll workers were a bit unorganized inside. There were different places depending on your ward / precient and there wasn't anything clearly marked. This caused confusion and definitely stalled up the line. I found myself wondering if everyone was going to be able to vote throughout the day.
Once finally in the gym, it was pretty smooth sailing getting to the front, checking name vs the roll books, and getting a PAPER BALLOT (there was a choice for either paper or electronic).
All in all, I feel the day went godo considering the record turnout that will most definitely arrive.
So here's a link for you Missouri folks who want to tell your stories of anything weird, bizarre or heck, even if it's your first time ever to vote.
Get out there and vote Missouri, it's never mattered more!
