Hello everyone from rainy Washington. Sable has been up since the wee hours of the morning doing some serious sign waving in the wind and rain. It took some time for me to dry off and get warm, but I put the coffee on and will try to carry you through the night. I was out last night doing the same thing and while I was soaked to the bone, there was a great turn-out of people for sign-waving and the reaction from passing motorists was terrific.
For you night owls, or depending on where you live, early risers, stick around with me and enjoy the blue wave that is headed our way. For those who are interested in some local coverage, nwcn.com will be updating their results and streaming the returns.
The Washington State Secretary of State will also have statewide results.
Please do not recommend this diary. Recommend the Election Result Mothership instead.
The only suspense about the Presidential race is how soon after 8:00 p.m. will WA be called for Obama. My personal guess is that the press calls it at 8:00:01 p.m.
We have a repeat of the 2004 Governor's race with Chistine Gregoire and Dino "I want to lower the minimum wage $1.50" Rossi. In case you missed it, SurveyUSA had Gregoire up by 6 in their latest poll.
The other race that is near and dear to the Netroots is WA-08. We could not have had a better candidate than Darcy Bruner. She will make a great addition to our Congressional Delegation.
Finally, we have I-1000.. Mirroring the Oregon "Death With Dignity" law, Washington voters are being asked to approve a similar law.
I'll be back later. Stay up and stick around tonight. Savor the victories!
Update: Sorry for the delay. But I have some preliminary numbers. Keep in mind that there are not any results out of Pierce or King County. Cowlitz County has not reported and that is also a very heavy Dem county. (On the S.O.S. Election Results pages you can scroll around and get the breakdown by county.)
