a diatribe against stupid people who live mostly in rural locations, who choose to ignore little things i like to call FACTS, who vote with their heart while burying their head in the sand.
i was dismayed in 2000 when looking at a county-by-county map where it showed that mostly urban areas were where democrats won. things weren't a heckuva lot different in 2004. using the cnn "pick the results" map, i predicted that the south and west -- basically rural areas with small percentages of african americans -- would vote for the Republicans, even after living through 8 years of Republican failure. What is it about these idiots? Do they hate this country so much? Aren't they able to recognize the complete economic failure that America is facing under Bush? To put McCain in charge of this train is to lay the tracks at the cliff of the Grand Canyon.
listening to npr, i've heard a lot of these republican voters voice their concerns about obama. "he's too slick." "he's too much of a politician." excuse me, but president of the united states is the most important job in the world. don't you want the person in that position to be educated, well-spoken, and to have good control over his emotions? he's mature, thoughtful, and sorry, I don't understand why people think he's a slick politician. it's easier to recognize McCain as the slick lifelong political hack, willing to risk the future of the country by appointing Palin to the veep position.
as democrats / liberals / progressives, we need to work harder to make education a top priority. if more people are able to REASON, they could process the fact that Obama is the best candidate we've got, and the best the GOP could do was engage in a losing battle of smear tactics and voter suppression.
