Obama is up by about 359 votes in Nebraska's 2 CD. You have to go to the SOS page as you cannot tell from MSNBC's or Kos's pages. If these results hold, then Obama gets 1 electoral college vote from Nebraska. This shows continuing benefits of expanding the playing field. ND, SD, Montana, Missouri were close (Montana still possible), Indiana and North Carolina look like pick ups.
Update on Missouri - down to 400 votes could go Obama's way and Georgia has tons of early votes to count so that may go to Obama as well!
Tough night to be a red team player. Not much to hang your hat on outside of keeping gays from marrying or adopting. They lost the other social issues - abortion, when life begins, etc. I guess they can point to a few house seats they won, but overall it is a Blue Night!
With big demcratic wins in the presidential, senate and house level out west, the republican party is left with pretty much the south, the Big 12 football conference (Texas, Ok, Nebraska, Kansas, and the Utah, Idaho, Wyoming zone). Not much to build an electoral college strategy on.
If they keep up the anti-illegal immegrant focus, they will further push away the Latino/Hispanic voters and further marginalize themselves. Glad the handwringing is not on our side this year.
Yes, the post went all over the place but I wanted to get the Nebraska news up as I had not observed it posted yet.
