It started when they first announced Pennsylvania.
My face quivered, tears began to well but I fought them back. Virginia had not been called. Georgia looked grim.
We worked on.
"We need more people to call volunteers! Gregoire can still lose Washington!"
Nose to the grindstone.
Then they announced Ohio. We all cheered, we organizers of the 46th LD in Washington.
The hope was there... the fear still remained.
What if...? They called it too early. Not all of the votes have been counted!
The fear remained.
8PM arrived. Within seconds the call came...
and we cried.
Men and women, all of us in tears.
A release valve had been triggered. The fear plug had been pulled. All of the anxiety built up in each of us over the past eight years drained out in seconds.
We were cleansed.
Baptism.
Update: How can I forget: Gregoire wins!
