There is a great survey posted about what type of dog they should choose. Great because people are sincerely excited for them and great because of the results so far.
As of now Mutts are winning. Being a biased dog lover I took note of a grave injustice because Boxers were not an option.
I was just thinking about what type of dog they should choose which led to thoughts on whether they will truly get to choose. I think they should and will (I guess every parent reserves the right to veto certain breeds if necessary)
I'm hoping there won't be advisors who suggest one breed over another or mutt for political reasons but knowing what we know about the Obama's there is no way they would be that lame. They will let their daughters choose.
That said, I did think it was cool that mutts are winning the survey right now .
We adopted a boxer from a rescue this summer.I don't regret that our boxer we raised from a puppy because my children were little. Now they're teenagers and I knew there are too many dogs who need a home.
I totally get why people sing the praises of dogs from the pound. I do think he appreciates us and bonded very quickly. I suspect there was abuse in his past and it makes him even more special to me.
So, I hope they let them choose their dog with no pressure to choose puppy or mutt because they are young girls who earned it from months of campaigning and missing their dad.
Any grownups out there reading this, please consider the mutts! (or from breed rescues too)
