reading over things I have come to see something that needed to be posted, something that need to be said. that is we need to look to our family and brothers and sisters husbands and wives, children and parents, that are on the right as put our hand out, and tell them will do listen, we do want a better nation too, and we want you to help...
"I Didn't Vote for Him, But He's My President, and I hope He does a good Job"
---John Wayne---
I did Vote for Obama, I Voted Blue for most part, Lt. Gov I couldn't Vote Blue for someone that blows throw our money over silly things, but I digress. Yet I want something to be taken away from this. We may have vote for Obama or McCain, we may live in "red" America or "Blue" America, We may be black, White, Yellow, Brown, or Red, we may believe in God, or no God, but we first and most importantly human and secondly we are Americans, nothing else matters. Man, Woman and Child, all have the same hopes and wishes. To have a place that is safe and clean to live. To feel save, to feel wanted by our Nation.
I know some of the people here know me, and know that I have been fighting against the GOP forever but never so much as the last 8 years, how dare I know call for us to be unified. 7 years ago, when that hell on earth came to the US and we were attacked, I did give up my political thoughts and stood behind the Man that was President. I am not going to go into the end of that play but when it started my heart was purely behind Bush in those moments.
Are Nation as went through alot of changes in the last eight years, we have a lot of Challenges facing this Nation now. two wars, the world economies falling apart, and we have a name that needs to be rebuilt. We have alot of work to do, and I say we and I mean we, we have alot of work.
We are each others, and we meet when it is time, we keep each other going, we show each other signs.
It took a nation to get out ruling thumb of British, it took a nation to Rebuild after a war that wasn't civil. it took heroes in this nation to push back not once but twice against a world at war. It took a Nation to build up the Middle class, and it will take a Nation to fix the need for oil, the class warfare that has been going on, two wars and unrest that we must ease. WE as a nation must rise.
This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for generations. But one thats on my mind tonight is about a woman who cast her ballot in Atlanta. Shes a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing - Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.
She was born just a generation past slavery; a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her couldnt vote for two reasons - because she was a woman and because of the color of her skin.
And tonight, I think about all that shes seen throughout her century in America - the heartache and the hope; the struggle and the progress; the times we were told that we cant, and the people who pressed on with that American creed: Yes we can.
At a time when womens voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the ballot. Yes we can.
When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the land, she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal, new jobs and a new sense of common purpose. Yes we can.
When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world, she was there to witness a generation rise to greatness and a democracy was saved. Yes we can.
She was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham, a bridge in Selma, and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that We Shall Overcome. Yes we can.
A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin, a world was connected by our own science and imagination. And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change. Yes we can.
America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do
This set of words moved me more than I can ever say, I have been chocked up all day, with tears of joys in my eyes, but we still have more work to, together. So those that I have disagreed with, I wish to say I am willing to listen if you are and I am willing to help you up if you are, and I am willing to work side by side, if you are. And if you aren't I will still try to help you up and still listen to you. I just hope you will join me.
I give you one last thing
