In one of the most revealing post election articles, AP reported that there was a news blackout of the returns at the McCain election eve party. This in itself is a pretty good indicator of what a future McCain presidency would look like, or not look like.
It also disclosed that even the highest levels of party faithful in the McCain corner was filled with God 'n Guns Bitters who have an impervious belief in the disinformation and lies that the McCains campaign slopped out into the media in the last desperate weeks.
"But as the night wore on, organizers temporarily stopped broadcasting the returns overhead and announced few results, as if not to put a damper on the party. Those they did disclose lagged behind national projections showing Obama gaining on McCain.
Even after Obama had been declared the winner in Pennsylvania and Ohio, former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer walked on stage to tell the crowd about "another state in the McCain category. It’s the great state of Louisiana!"
........Returns unavailable to them, supporters instead danced to Hank Williams Jr. singing, "Mac is going to survive.""
This is a repeat of a broad pattern of how Republicans 'handle' the public - treating them like mushrooms. The Bush administration has done this for years - being the most insulated, clandestine and secretive administrations this country has ever had.
Non-disclosure of critical information is why so many died in Katrina. Bush's failure to disclose that he had serious plans on the table for war well before 9-11 caused more unnecessary deaths. If world diplomacy had been brought to bear early on with preventative measures - thousands of lives could have been saved. And those are just two instances of Republicans chronically clandestine behavior toward the voting public.
""He’s already lost Ohio. They think. Right?" said John Moore said from the back of the crowded ballroom. "I’m wondering why they’re not showing us that much. I wish I had a BlackBerry so I could track it myself."
He and his wife tried to put a positive spin on the information blackout: "I’m sure it’s going to be positive," said John. "Maybe they’re building momentum.""
U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz took the stage to tell the party faithful that the race was "...still too close to call" at 8:30 - well after Obama was numerically the winner with Ohio in the tank.
McCains camp was lying to their people to the bitter end.
Speaking of bitter, here was another revelation in the article. The people at the Arizona Biltmore Resort party were not your average Joe's. These were the moneyed set, cream of the crop, ticketed republicon McCain supporters. But the illiterate, deluded, knee-jerk responses from these people once they figured out that McCain lost (probably about midnight) was enlightening- and horrifying. These people actually believe every scrap of disinformation about Obama that was regurgitated by Palin et al during the squealing panic of the last weeks of the campaign.
Molly Pinckney, 60, of Phoenix stood frowning, the red pom pom she earlier had waved tucked by her side.
"I’m really sad. I’m sad for our country."
What happens next depends on the president-elect, she said. "It really depends on how Obama behaves ... whether he’s going to let rabble-rousers tear this country apart."
Molly git yer gun baby - there's a'gunna be big black men with droopy pants runnin' wild in the streets rapin the white wimmen!
"Before McCain took the stage, Nathaniel Eyler, 29, of Phoenix, mouthed the words as the song "God Bless the USA" played.
"Scared," he said in response to how he felt about the outcome, calling Obama a "socialist."
"I’m not going to sugarcoat it. I’m scared. Just the idea of Barack Obama as president of the United States scares me. "
Yep Nate, and Obama will impose KGB commie-style secret prisons, and torture, and spying on citizens, and nationalizing banks and ....oh wait, Bush already did all that.
You would think that if this is the best and brightest the Republicans have left to offer that they are pretty well in the tank with the brontosaurus. Unfortunately, these people have a habit of breeding pretty much indiscriminately.
So the Straight-Tard express rolls on - and all us evil commie libruls can do is pray that some God of Enlightenment descends on them in a bolt of intellectual lighting that zaps holy hell out of them.
