I believed! I worked! Not as much as others but still I worked. I called voters. Did data entry. Plenty of data entry.
I did it because I believed in change. I was expecting a president who was thoughtful. A president who...
believed I was smart enough to understand truth and that powerful enough to deal with it.
A president who understood the power of the internet, had great management qualities and a great understanding of the world.
I am, retrospectively, amazed at the vision he had. How the Obama core group saw a political landscape that could be measured and turned without the slash and burn politics of the 1990s. That respect and intelligence mattered.
And I am so thankful. I wake up feeling connected to my government. I wake up feeling like Barack Obama will at least try to do good. And after 8 years my standards for the US government are that low. He will at least try to do good. I can wake up and be thankful the war will end soon...
ANd not only that, Barack Obama came and rotated my tires this morning.
He is such a nice guy. We talked about football. I told him that I had Matt Forte on my fantasy team cause I saw him destroy my college football team.
He didn't actually change the tires. He's staff contacted me 20 minutes ahead of time, the secret service arrive 2 minutes after that to scope out the place and when he arrived he shook my hand and said,
Hello, ********* I came today out of the purpose of serving the american people. I came because you're not asking for free tires. Just a little rotation to get you to work so you can help build this nation.
I have told my staff my vision: that your tires be rotated as efficiently as possible while not only respecting environmental, labor and ethics laws but also actively promoting the spirit of environmental stewardship, fair wage standards and fundamental human dignity.
And wouldn't you know it. The team came in a moved my tires around quick as can be. And not only that President Obama spoke to the people of the street about community organizing and in 15 minutes we created a volunteer group, cleaned out the trash and planted trees. Birds now sing on my block because of Barack Obama.
Me:
I'm glad I voted for Barack Obama
