Polls say that 70% of Americans favor some form of "government-funded" health care. Lobbyists for a Puerto Rica rum distiller stuff a "government-funded" tax expenditure into the grab bag known as the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 – the "Bailout Bill" that is re-making our nation's fiscal map. What's a "tax expenditure?" Click the question marks. ?"??
Billions for "education," trillions for "defense," subsidies for tobacco and corn and auto makers, tax breaks for oil companies and hedge funds, money to fix the Interstate, incentive payments, school lunches, dredge the Intracoastal, all of it "government-funded."
Anybody got any idea where "the government," that great monolithic Cornucopia in "Washington," gets all that "funded?"

No doubt some of the claims on the General Revenue Fund would pass the "Golden Rule" tests. Either the one that reads "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you," or the ascendant one that reads "Them that has the Gold, Rules." Or in Bushonomics terms, "Do unto others, then run away!"
Where does "government funding" come from?
Most of you-all probably know all this. But maybe it is something to possibly keep in mind as we discover the depth of the hole that we’ve dug for ourselves? As we’re thinking about all the great new things we can be doing now that a more enlightened set of people are in office? As we start re-negotiating the social contract and all that?
Just a thought.
