Lieberman is not the only one who thinks losing his chairmanship is unacceptable.
Appearing on Shammity & Colmes, DLC poster boy, Iraq War apologist and now - apparent Joe Lieberman surrogate - Sen. Evan Bayh made clear to Faux News viewers where he stands on the question of what to do with Joe,
Hannity: Do you think he should be punished and have his chairmanship stripped from him?
BAYH: No, I don't think there should be retribution, Sean. We have an opportunity to make a fresh start in this country. And I think reconciliation is in order, not revenge or retribution.
then,
BAYH: Joe did say some things. Not his support of John McCain. I think everybody understands that supporting your friend is perfectly legitimate
Of course it's legit...remember back in 2000 after Bush smeared McCain out of the republican primary how McCain then endorsed the Gore-Lieberman ticket and travelled around campaigning with his "friend"?
Isn't that what happened?
BAYH: you know, John McCain has been his good friend for many years and I think we have to give him some allowance f or that. Now, he did say some things about Barack that I think crossed the line in this campaign. But if he's willing to step up and say look, if in the heat of the moment I said some things that were taken the wrong way, I'm sorry for that, let's all now work together and move on, I think we should do that.
We have a wonderful opportunity here rather than going back and seeing what someone said two years ago or six months ago, or whatever, to instead start anew addressing the new problems that affect your viewers.
Yeah, lets forget 2000 (f'ed his own ticket), 2004 (pandering to repubs in the primary), 2006 (f'ed CN DEMs), 2007 ("I will support DEM nominee") and 2008 ("I want SecDef...uh I am supporting my friend") - because people never change their tune for personal benefit, like a cabinet position or to get on a ticket right?
I don't doubt that Evan would rather everyone ignore what people said six months ago:
Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana, who backs Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton for president, proposed another gauge Sunday by which superdelegates might judge whether to support Mrs. Clinton or Senator Barack Obama.
He suggested that they consider the electoral votes of the states that each of them has won.
"So who carried the states with the most Electoral College votes is an important factor to consider because ultimately, that’s how we choose the president of the United States," Mr. Bayh said on CNN’s "Late Edition."
BAYH: we're going to need his support on energy independence, on health care, on education, job creation, on a lot of things you and I care about...And we're going to prove that there is a place for Democrats who are strong on national security in the Democratic Party.
Thus another BS argument to expect in the next 2 weeks: to prove Democrats are strong on national security we need to coddle Joe Lieberman.
I promise to be good this time!
