A friend of mine attended Bob Dylan's concert in Minneapolis on election night. He said it was a moving show filled with songs of hope for something better than the nightmare of the past eight years. Bob Dylan is a hero to me and probably many of you. This is the first election he has commented on in the press and the first time that he has seemed to supported a candidate explictly.
On that magical election night the normally reticent and reclusive Dylan spoke about Obama winning the election...
"Me, I was born in 1941. That was the year they bombed Pearl Harbor. I've been living in a world of darkness ever since. But it looks like things are going to change now." Bob Dylan Nov 4, 2008
Most in the crowd still didn't know that Obama was the winner that night, but I am told entering into the lobby after this song ended the show there was crying and chants of "Obama" when they saw a large TV showing CNN declaring Obama's victory. This was followed by an emotional celebration spilling out into the streets.
