I have not written anything here for awhile because I am so overwhelmed by what has come to pass. But this article by Harold Meyerson in Washington Post today made me run for the keyboard.
He slammed Fox for the dumbing down of far right repubs who are now relegated to the Southern region of this country.
Man! He slammed them hard.

Harold Meyerson did not mince his words in this letter to Fox published in today's WAPO.
You Report, We Marginalize
By Harold Meyerson
Wednesday, November 12, 2008; A19
To: Mr. Roger Ailes
President, Fox News
Dear Roger,
You should be sitting when you read this, because I'm writing to apologize.
In times past, I've had harsh words for Fox for its consistent misrepresentation of the news. In 2003, I cited a survey from the Program for International Policy Attitudes (PIPA) and the Knowledge Network that showed that 45 percent of Fox viewers believed that the United States had uncovered incontrovertible proof that Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda had worked together; that we had found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq; and that a majority of peoples in other lands supported our war in Iraq. In case these bizarre misconceptions merely reflected the a priori beliefs of President Bush's supporters, PIPA further documented that Bush backers who got their news from other networks had a decidedly firmer grasp of the facts.
Now, I don't in any way retract my judgment that you guys were at the time and still are a constant source of right-wing fantasies. It's just that, at least in today's political environment, I'm no longer sure this is a bad thing...

I feel a sense of release now after reading this letter.
Over the course of this General Election I really thought that the way the republicans were approaching this election was the wrong way but I figured they would get back on track after their convention.
However, they just kept going.
The Convention was ugly and filled with hate and anger. Yet, their media enablers celebrated with them after Sarah Palin read her speech off of a piece of paper.
I sat through this whole General Election watching them spew hate and bile and I thought to myself that they did not get it. But maybe I was wrong and the country enjoyed this hate and bile (I thought to myself).
The whole Wright issue had me scratching my head towards the end. When I saw those Wright ADS play on TV for the entire last week of the election I just shook my head in disgust. I knew Obama had won then. The ADS played all day Monday and Tuesday as people prepared to vote and then voted. Everytime one came on I felt my insides recoil. Even my 8 year-old was asking about them and why they were playing them over and over again.
Yet, the McCain/Palin repubs cheered and continued to praise their tactics on Morning Joe and other shows. I. Just. Don't. Get. It.
How could they have missed the whole train? (not that I am complaining)
I hope they take Meyerson's letter to heart and weep.
