We've won elections this year based on a people-powered campaign. The democrats were swept in though the work of dedicated legwork and small donations. Millions of people have participated. Mayor Daley in Chicago knew that the Toddlin' Town just had to accommodate crowds for election night. He knew it'd be good to share the love with enthusiasts and worker, and They'd be eager to help again next time.
Here comes the inauguration. People are eager to come to the celebration, but inaugural tickets, and events have been sold out. The inauguration is the wrong size -- it's sized for the era of insiders.
If Chicago can host hundred of thousands for the acceptance speech, why can't DC expand the inaugural celebrations? IF we're gonna fix the war, the economy and health care, why can't we put jumbo-trons somewhere -- the Verizon center, Nationals stadium, issue tickets, and say, have leaders of the Obama campaign host a throng?
