Ok guys, how many of you watched the Obama's on 60 Minutes? He was so charming, funny, and real it blew me away. I can't believe we elected this guy, that we will get to see him on the TV every night instead of a buffoon.
At one point the interviewer said "You seem happier about your mother in-law than the new dog." Barack (more or less) says "I am not engaging in a comparison of my mother in-law and a dog! Are you kidding me? How well do you get along with your mother in-law?"
More below.
At the end the interviewer asked about having play-offs in college football, and Obama shifted seamlessly into regular guy mode after saying "excuse me" to Michelle. He talked about the issue with knowledge and added with a twinkle in his eye that he "might throw my weight around a bit, I think it's the right thing to do."
He and Michelle should keep doing 60 Minutes, every week! If they do that, Obama will win men by a huge margin in 2012, because 60 Minutes follows football... especially if he can deliver on the college football thing.
See, Bush, was sold as anti-intellectual to bond with "the average Joe" who some elites see as stupid and easily led. It was an easy sale because Bush wasn't faking it, which is why the same folks are now wild about Palin. With Obama we get a normal guy for president, the first "real guy" in a long time. But unlike Bush, he isn't an idiot, in fact, he is a really talented and smart guy.
Now that's a "Average Joe" we can all identify and bond with. Especially as there appears to quite a bit of idiot fatigue at present.
I think our mourning for the excitement of the campaign will dissipate on January 20th. Seeing and hearing Obama and his family will fill the void.
