A-ranting I will go, hi-ho, hi-ho....

This media obsession (lust for dollars, mostly), regarding all things Clinton is insane and too damaging to allow to continue!

What mad freaks these worry trolls regarding Bill Clinton, his foundation and possible conflicts of interest should Hillary Clinton become Secretary of State.

What is Reality Distortion Field (rdf) of charity, profit, motive and mental health, below the fold!

Charity begins at home

It's a CHARITY*, people, not a for-profit corporation or major lobbying firm!

WJC Foundation has grown into a global nongovernmental organization with more than 800 staff and volunteers around the world, with offices in New York City, Little Rock, Arkansas, and Boston, Massachusetts.

The mission of the William J. Clinton Foundation is to strengthen the capacity of people in the United States and throughout the world to meet the challenges of global interdependence. To advance this mission, the Clinton Foundation has developed programs and partnerships in the following areas:

   * Health Security
   * Economic Empowerment
   * Leadership Development and Citizen Service
   * Racial, Ethnic and Religious Reconciliation

All this drama created to fill air time and raise advertising dollars for the cable channels!

Seriously, what horrible catastrophe could occur what utter nefarious ends would either of the Clintons or Foundation donors possibly achieve?  After everything we let former aides to presidents, past and current presidents, cabinet members and advisers, contracting firms, et. al. do and get away with regarding associations and conflicts of interests or actual activity against the United States, this is where they want to draw a line??

Insanity!

We're going to pass on a qualified cabinet member, or hinder donors to a charity that would do very good for the poor and ill of our world? Honestly?

Funny, guest host (Rachel Maddow Show) Arianna Huffington, is talking about this topic with Bill Maher, who seems to be saying what I am, regarding this.

This country, miraculously elected Barack Obama, but boy, it is still screwed-up when it comes to reality and what's important!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Obama seems to know what he's doing. Although Lincoln and Seward hated each other from what I read.

And isn't it a little weird to see Arianna and Bill on a show together pretending like they don't frequently engage in the nasty?

but he still had to fight a civil war. Obama is likely to have to fight one, too-- he's going to have to struggle every day and against Republican sabotage efforts and pecksniffery from the TV pundits-- and having Clinton in his cabinet is not going to provide him with any real help. The Clintons' supreme cause is always the Clintons.

        •  Yes, Bill is so self centered (0+ / 0-)

so rotten, so miserable.  Must be from that silver spoon childhood he had where everything was handed to him on a silver platter.

          Yes that makes sense.

        •  Misnomer (0+ / 0-)

I know what you meant, but "self-centered" isn't the right word as it is usually in reference to someone who is incapable of seeing and operating from the point of view of others or their needs, etc.

Bill has a healthy ego, wanting to be seen, credited, hosting the party, but then so do all that seek the presidency and high office ;-)

I know she campaigned non-stop for Obama but I know she did that only to promote herself.

I know he works like night and day to bring AIDS medicine to third world countries.... but we all know that's just a vanity project.

The Clintons main cause is always the Clintons.

        I can't escape your logic.

        Problem is.  Neither can you.

the children here cannot get past their own egos.  Here, it's all about making sure the world knows all the awful evil thing the Clintons purposely did to the world and still want to do just so they can be famous.  Because you know the Clintons are so "not known" in the world, and so poor, that they are constantly plotting to get fame and wealth.

          •  Actually... (0+ / 0-)

I would say they are quite interested in fame, etc... but per my note above, it is sooo benign compared to what motivates others and who do far less good in the world than the Clintons have done and do! Thus, the insanity!

"pecksniffery" You've got me running to the dictionary - which I enjoy.

While I would say the Clintons do have that 'celebrity-type' mantra of "stay in the news" and "any publicity is good publicity," there is hardly a politician or person in the public eye that doesn't run multiple agendas at once and always include self-serving ones.

The actual positive with the Clinton's "supreme cause" as you call it - is that it is quite visible and well-known and relatively harmless compared with the scores of others whose agendas and motives and beneficiaries we are not able to see!

    •  lol good comment on AH and BM! (0+ / 0-)

I'm certain Obama knows what he's doing.

But this chatter about sinister "conflicts of interest" arising from association of Bill to Hill and donations to a charity are ridiculous.

paid by mostly right wing republicans. Even though the Dems hold a senate majority insuring approval of anyone Obama nominates, it becomes a greater priority, by influence wielded by the money behind the media, to investigate the Clintons now, than to act on all of the evidence of wrong doing collected by all of the congressional committee and sub-committee investigations of Bush administration miscreants and their crimes against the people.

Those are the rules. Eight years of watergate, after Judge Sentelle switched special prosecutors to install Richard Scaife puppet boy, Ken Starr in the role of Clinton inquisitor, should have taught everyone how it works.....

I don't care if he takes donations from Barbara Bush or the Taliban. It's hard for me to get all enraged at Bill for fundraising from shady foreigners when he's using their money to stop AIDS and get medical supplies to 3rd world countries. Hell, if he gets the money from horrible people, that's even better in my book because then you're helping the world, and taking money away from horrible people in the process.

I can understand why some people are worried about Hillary's possible involvement if she's up for SoS, but I find it hilarious that some people are using words like "sleaze"....over a charity. Frankly, if it came out that the only reason President Clinton built this foundation was that hot activist chicks would be all over him, I still wouldn't care, because he'd still be helping the world in his quest for coed pussy.

    •  Gee, airwave, I'm so glad you brought this up! (0+ / 0-)

I hope you've done your homework and are ready for some analysis!

First, if you think business isn't done every day in every corner of the world the way Mr. Giustra did it, you're living in dreamland.  Further, there wasn't anything nefarious about his using a big name connection to influence the deal.

      RE Nursultan A. Nazarbayev

Nursultan Nazarbayev has delivered relative prosperity to his Central Asian nation since he was elected president of independent Kazakhstan in 1991.

Annual economic growth has averaged nearly 10% since 2001, and has been credited with ensuring the country's stability.

Last year, he announced that he believes Kazakhstan will become one of the world's 50 most developed countries and one of the world's top 10 oil exporters in the next seven years.

Having one of the world's biggest unexplored reserves of oil, Kazakhstan is certainly in a good position to exploit these to gain greater international clout.

The article seems to leave out a personal monetary gain for himself, so there must not be one, yet a charitable foundation that helps thousands received a thank you gift in the millions.  Where do you see the evil?  We even have had (though not a great endorsement) a sitting president and VP palling around with Nursaltan - Bush/Cheney.

      Regarding the OSCE

All 56 participating States enjoy equal status, and decisions are taken by consensus on a politically, but not legally binding basis.

The CiO provides the political leadership of the OSCE and oversees the Organization's activities in conflict prevention, crisis management and post-conflict rehabilitation. He or she is also responsible for the external representation of the OSCE and for OSCE appointments.

One-year term for the Cio and NOT autocratic - horrors!

Gosh, with all that Uranium and oil, it would be just terrible to have Kazakhstan and its leaders friendly to us and our friends instead of Iran, N. Korea, Russia, ...right?

      So what was your point?

Okay all I have time for now, I'll be tracking your progress and answer the other link later!

  •  How did this get linked from a Media Matters blog (0+ / 0-)

    ?

This is amateurish tripe. The media's been foaming at the mouth at this latest nonsense, true, but there is no vast left-wing conspiracy against the Clintons.

Charity organizations still have donors--in this case lots of high-profile international donors--and donations are still a matter of influence. That is a serious concern with regard to high-level appointments, and it's why most people start major charitable organizations after they're done with politics. Of course, having a political family can complicate matters.
