to support our guy and PARTY!
On Jan. 21, Barack Hussein Obama will be installed into office — and there will be much rejoicing. The country is watching to see how he finances the big inauguration party.
Corporate donors? Money from Lobbyists? Not for our guy - not if he's really the guy we elected.
More below the fold...
CNN writers seem "concerned" that Obama can pay for the huge party that his inauguration demands.
(NEW YORK) CNN -- After raising a staggering amount of money for the general election, President-elect Barack Obama must now rake in more cash for his transition and inauguration.
Barack Obama broke fundraising records in the general election.
There is about $9.74 million of taxpayer funds available to pay for the transition, but experts say that's not enough.
To make up the difference, past presidents have turned to private money and corporate cash.
Obama's transition team, however, is taking pains to keep lobbyists out of his transition and forgo corporate cash.
Now, past presidents have turned to private corporations and lobbyists to help fund the inauguration celebration. Our BFF George W. Bush raised the largest amount ever to pay for the inaugural festivities, $42.8 million — and 90 percent of it was from corporate interests. Bush graciously limited contributions from private corporations "in order to avoid any potential conflicts of interests," according to the CNN story on this issue.
But this isn't a party for the corporations. This isn't even a party JUST for Obama. This is OUR party. This is OUR TIME to celebrate real change in America.
CNN wonders whether Obama can raise enough money to pay for the inauguration without compromising his position on taking money from corporations and lobbyists.
To me, it seems a non-issue.
Yes, he can.
I'm just waiting for someone to tell me where to send a check. :)
