Dear democratic supporter(s),
We are sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with your purchase(s) of (1) Change in November of 2008.
We understand the packaging of the product Change was misleading. We admit that the product did not actually contain change and that that may have resulted in confusion.
We deeply regret that many of you purchased (1) Change, but instead were delivered (1) Lieberman.
We understand that opening a purchase and discovering an unwanted Lieberman might have caused quite a shock, but we think that upon further reflection you will agree that it should have been exactly what you were expecting. If you look at your past purchase history with us, we are sure you will agree.
Sadly, we cannot offer refunds for money spent on Change, even where the money was specifically requested for that purpose.
Liebermans are non-refundable.
In conclusion, we are sorry for any unnecessary hope this may have caused, and sincerely request that you forget this ever happened in two (and four) years time.
Signed,
The Democratic Party

Two other thoughts:
- Do lemon laws apply to political donations? Though this seems like a long shot, it may have a higher chance of success if your senator is Harry Reid.
- Did you put your donations on American Express? They have an excellent return policy as well as an automatic extended warranty. If you call them and tell them that you did not get what you paid for and that the company you dealt with refuses to make an exchange, perhaps they will replace the funds. It worked with theater tickets, why not incompetent and unprincipled politicians?
(I am willing to be disappointed on many issues. I know no one I support is going to agree with me all of the time and will happily stay supportive of politicians that I feel are principled, regardless of differences of opinion. But this particular issue is different, it is not about policy differences.
I understand the concept of representative democracy. But this is unacceptable, because it is ABOUT the representation. They are undercutting what I worked so hard and spent so much to achieve by giving that weasel a position of power over the people that deserve it more and would represent what we voted for better.
It is the epitome of politics as usual and spits on all of our efforts for change.
If I had wanted a republican heading homeland security, I would have sent THEM money.
The fact that Lieberman will soon enough make both the administration and the senate regret their spinelessness is of no consolation. The country cannot afford the damage it could cause before they grow a pair. That chairmanship has real power - power with little direct oversight. This is not a cabinet position to be overruled by the president.
What an embarrassing day to be a democrat.)
