Image Hosted by Tonight on TDS, Denis Leary, comedian and Daily Show regular returns after celebrating the life of George Carlin at the Kennedy Center; and on TCR, it's Paul Simon, author of Lyrics: 1964-2008.

Turkey roasting in a roasting pan,
Cranb'ry sauce boiling over on the stove.
Drunken uncles watching football on Fox,
and the toddler won't stop picking at his nose...
sausage grinder of snark

Denis Leary bores me.

I love the musical guests. I'm not wasting time on YouTube, it's for my readers. A sacrifice, even.

Anyway, Paul Simon has a book out: "Lyrics 1964-2008." Which is exactly that. Found a couple reviews, and some clips of a talk he gave at a B&N in NYC just a few days ago. And a whole bunch of videos. The Sesame Street and Muppet Show clips weren't as amazing as I'd hoped, and the Wyclef Jean collaboration has embedding disabled. And the bit with him and John Lennon handing out an award at the 1975 grammys was --  interesting. This SNL clip was better:

He's done lots of collaborations, of course. This next is with Miriam Makeba, who died just recently:

Not that I really expect it to compare, but I hope we get a duet tonight.

Oh, and can I just say: I love this.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
