A sitting vice president of the united states has been indicted for the first time since 1803 and there's a concerted effort to bury the story by the MSM. Not only that, there's only been one previous diary here on the subject. What's going on?
there's an update here.
McAllen, Texas is a place few outside the area has ever heard of. But history was made there the other day, and it seems that the mainstream media is in denial about it. A sitting vice president has been indicted for the first time since 1803 (although there were criminal proceedings against one in 1973) and outside a few places (only one diary on the subject?) has been almost totally ignored.
Willacy County District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra has announced that a grand jury has issued a true bill of indictment against Vice President Richard B. Cheney and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez over some problems with a privately run prison
The facts of the case are this:
Last month, a Willacy County grand jury indicted The GEO Group, a Florida private prison company, on a murder charge in the death of a prisoner days before his release. The three-count indictment alleged The GEO Group allowed other inmates to beat Gregorio de la Rosa Jr. to death with padlocks stuffed into socks. The death happened in 2001 at the Raymondville facility.—The AP
As part of the Vice-President's blind trust, Cheney owns shares in the Vanguard Group, a mutual fund-type deal, which owns stock in the GEO group. As far as I can tell, both the Vanguard group and GEO are limited liability corporations, which means that mere stockholders are immune from legal actions [If you owned a single share of Halliburton, you couldn't go to jail for whatever they did] and the charges against Cheney are total bullshit.
There's a saying that goes "some DA's can get grand juries to indict a ham sandwich" and this appears to be the case here. Dick Cheney is a ham sandwich.
I'm not so sure about the charges against Gonzalez, which are different and have to do with refusing to bring federal charges against GEO. These may be bullshit as well, but I don't know for sure.
Now it has been reported in the press, and it's been buried pretty far down, that the indictments haven't been signed by Presiding Judge Manuel Banales of the Fifth Administrative Judicial Region and thus have no effect, wich is technically true, but he doesn't have a veto power over these things, he HAS to sign them, much like the Queen of England HAS to sign legislation passed by Parliament. However, a lawyer representing Cheney or Gonzalez can make a motion to dismiss the case, which is what's going to happen.
However, Cheney and Gonzalez have to appear before the judge in person. there has to be a perp walk, a mug shot take, fingerprinting and all that other stuff. That is all we're going to get I'm afraid. Enjoy it while you can.
