My very first diary for Daily Kos was an overview of Pete Sessions' dismal performance in the 2004 debates with Martin Frost, where Sessions didn't know the difference between the U.N. and NATO; he said of his own tax plan, "My name's on the bill, but it will never pass. Congressman Frost is just trying to scare you;" and he gave the wrong address for his own website--several times--as the debate ran live on C-SPAN:
To top it all off, every time Pete Sessions would get stuck for a response, he would tell the audience--live on local cable and CSPAN--to go to his website CostOfMartinFrost.Com...Thing is, that's not the name of his anti-Frost website! CostofMartinFrost.com was still available when he said it, and the Frost team purchased the domain name DURING THE DEBATE and used it to point out flaws in Pete's crazy tax plan! And Pete Sessions thinks he can solve our problems in cyber-security? I don't think so.
And this guy's going to save the GOP? They're in deep trouble...
According to the article in today's Dallas Morning News, Pete Sessions became a rising star of the GOP when he "drove Mr. Frost from Congress," but we all remember how that happened, right? Tom DeLay's gerrymandering plan did that, carving out a safe Republican seat, carefully cutting out an historic African-American neighborhood and the GLBT district, both of which would vote for any Democrat over Pete Sessions.
Besides being not all that bright unable to win without redrawing district lines, he gets an "F" from Middle Class.org for all his votes against Medicaid, SCHIP, neighborhood stabilization, and other things that affect the middle class voter.
He thinks caring about health care and ending the war are things that make Democrats "unhinged", but don't ask him for a debate on these issues. He's scared to debate, as I've diaried on several occasions. In 2006, Pete Sessions weaseled out of a debate with Will Pryor, and cut and run from a debate with 2008 challenger, Eric Roberson.
So what does he do that makes the NRCC think he can lead them to victory in 2010? He's a great fundraiser. Pete Sessions financed campaigns for fellow right-wing extremists Michele Bachmann and Robin Hayes, who ranted that liberals hate real Americans before losing to Larry Kissell.
He also puts the fun in fundraiser by holding them in places like Las Vegas strip clubs, which shocked Dallas conservatives, but not enough to make them want to vote against him.
I could go on, but I'll leave it at that. For more opposition research, please check out my blog Sessions Watch.
