So now we're in "the Obama Recession," or so I hear and read. Of course he doesn't actually take office for a couple months, so that makes no sense, but no matter. And the liberal media somehow cooked the election. Whackos like Ziegler ladle this stuff out, and the wingnuts just eat it up.
The GOP has alienated, with malice aforethought in many cases:
- Women (anti-choice/reproductive rights)
- Gays (anti-gay marriage, anti-gay rights in general)
- Minorities (anti-any policy that helps the economically disadvantaged in general, also anti-immigration reform that doesn't include dealing harshly with illegal immigrants here now regardless of the individual circumstances)
The GOP has completely marginalized themselves, as the party of older, angry, and in many cases racist white males, not standing for anything positive, just anti-everything, and they refuse to admit it or come to grips with how they got there.
THAT'S GREAT NEWS! With the far right wing running the show the GOP is increasingly unwilling and unable to seek a middle ground on any rational level with any ideological policy, which should keep them in a "permanent" minority. (OK, "permanent" is a long time, but as long as they don't wake up to the doomed illogic of their position, let's just enjoy.)
So here's to Ziegler, and Hannity, and O'Reilly and Limbaugh and the other Great Bloviators: I have finally learned to love you guys. Keep feeding your shrinking constituency red meat; don't ever seek perspective, or get all "thoughtful" on us. Never give up; never surrender. Keep up the great work!
