I don't know who runs the spellchecker over at Mozilla FireFox, but they should update their spellchecker. Seriously. I rely on this browser in part because I am not all that great a typist and proofreader. I spell wonderfully- all my errors are typing and proofreading. Really.
Therefore, errors creep into my blogging. When I type the name of the President Elect, Barack Hussein Obama, I automatically get his name underlined and some interesting choices for correct spelling are offered to me. Obadiah Obadias Bamako Alabama are provided to me as corrections for Obama. Seriously- Bamako? True, it is the capitol of Mali and a city with 1,690,471 persons living there. But I had to look that factoid up!
Barack gives me even more creative choices, even when spelled correctly. Ba rack, Barrack, Bareback, Barabbas, and Backtrack are the options offered to me. Not even Wikipedia or the first few screens of Yahoo or Google recognize Ba rack as something remotely appropriately spelled. And Barrack is a single of barracks, not exactly a grammatically correct spelling. Barbabas was the criminal released instead of Jesus at the pleading of the Pharisees and Bareback and Backtrack will make some odd documents.
Barack Obama is the President Elect of the United States. Why not help Americans learn to type his name correctly on the interweb?
Ironically, FireFox knows that Hussein is correctly spelled. What does this mean, exactly?
And as for Microsoft Word, my version will correct Obama to be Osama or Bema, a raised platform. At lease FireFox doesn't recognize either Obama or Obama. Bill Gates is also hung up on Barack being a form of military housing, preferring barrack or barracks as the correct spelling.
Any help on how to let the powers to be at Firefox know how irritating this is would be appreciated
