Ha ha.
PROTESTERS have demanded that US President George W Bush get out of Peru where he is attending an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, blaming him for the world economic crisis.
It's the thought that counts, of course, but I am often either amused or saddened when I see people make good demands of people who would rather burst into flames than do the right thing.
Friday's anti-Bush protest, organized by Peru's biggest labor union, charged that Mr Bush's decision to wage a costly war in Iraq contributed to the financial and economic crises.
Well....imagine that. These labor and community organizers sure do hate America. And our freedoms. Our economy is the envy of the world right now, right?
"The International Criminal Court should try him for crimes against humanity, war crimes and crimes of aggression," a big banner next to the main stage for the rally proclaimed.
"Bush - genocide. The Peruvians repudiate your crimes," said another.
If shoulds only ran the world.... Still, it's like music to hear people somewhere organizing and calling Bush out and telling it like it is.
Somebody has to do it because over here Bush's path out of office is cleared of any obstacles and he's set to launch pardon-palooza and ride off into the sunset with a huge security detail needed to protect him from a world that despises him intensely for all the horrible things he has authorized.
Sidebar - This report about the CIA shooting down all sorts of small plane as part of Plan Colombia and then not really reporting it correctly was just released as this conference geared up.
Iraq, the financial malfeasance involved in the mortgage/credit meltdown, the bailout redistribution of wealth to those who created said meltdown and perpetrated said malfeasance - as well as our massively expensive drug war and Plan Colombia: all of these factors contribute to the global malaise and they are all 100% factors willfully created by a handful of people in positions to make them happen. Plan Colombia really hits home with the Peruvians. It's another reason people really hate our government,
So it's good to hear other countries chiming on on Bush being to blame for global market failures and failed illegal occupations and all the war crimes he is responsible for since he personally authorized them.
Too bad this stain is still allowed to be in office, huh?
