I have noticed that many of the most fervent Deaniacs, such as myself, are now wild about Gore. Old Deaniacs like TeresaInPa and ScientestMom in Ny are frequent posters on Gore threads, and other handles seem familiar as well.
I am a sterotypical "Deaniac", in that I was never involved in politics prior to Dean. I was quite cynical about the process, but then Bushco scared me to death and I decided to get involved. I got behind Dean because he gave me hope, not just that Bush could be defeated, but that Democracy could be restored.
More over the dam...
I never thought I would feel what I felt for Dean for any other politician, only to find myself falling for Gore. I have liked him since he stood against the Iraq war and backed Dean, but the "Old Gore" bored me to death.
My theory now is that this is Gore's hour, while 2004 was Dean's. After I found out about peak oil, that and global warming caused me to lose all hope. The thought of a Gore presidency stirs that hope, and were he to run for the nom I would throw myself into the effort with my whole heart and soul... just as I did for Dean. The common theme is hope and inspiration of course, plus a willingness to speak truth to power .... which kinda goes without saying.
So, long story short, I am wondering if the few Deaniacs I recognize and myself are representative, or the exception.
So, Deaniacs, how do you feel about Gore? If you are really into him now too, why is that? If not, why not?
