Congress supports legal discrimination against Americans in the USA! Demand that Congress pass SB 1035 at the start of the next session.
Employers in this country need to seek local talent and provide Equal Opportunity for US citizens and green card holders. H-1B, OPT, TN, J-1 and L-1 visa holders are not free labor in the sense that they would be able to pursue other career options. They have been tied to a visa that has been issued to a specific employer. US citizens and green card holders are free labor - they have authorization to work for any US employer. Labor contractors can't place an H-1B into a free labor job. They can only place H-1B's into a job for which the company will sponsor the H-1B visa. Foreign-based labor contractors such as Tata, Wipro, Infosys, and others have made outsourcing and offshoring US jobs into a gigantic and extremely profitable industry. They are making billions each year, buying and selling American jobs, and moving American jobs overseas.
Call Congress now. Demand that they pass SB 1035. Send a message and demand that the new administration stop the war on the middle class.
Greedy, power-hungry C.E.O.'s are destroying the lives of far too many US citizens. American professionals in the STEM fields are being pushed out of their jobs and their homes in the thousands each year.
The cumulative effect of the visa programs over the last 20 years has resulted in hundreds of thousands of US STEM professionals out of their careers. They frequently end up either unemployed or in low-level occupations other than the careers for which they are qualified. American STEM workers at all levels of experience are increasingly unable to find work in their chosen professions. If they are laid off because of outsourcing or offshoring, they are being forced to either accept part time work with no benefits or to take survival jobs at a much lower rate of pay. Our talented, experienced professionals are being put out in the street without food, shelter, or health care. This is not only unconscionable from an ethical point of view, it is a violation of the Constitutional rights of US citizens to practice their professions, and it is happening year after year. The laws that are on the books allow employers to bypass US citizens legally, and companies are taking full advantage of the situation. US citizens, however, still need to maintain mortgage payments, car payments, health insurance bills, educate their children, and pay for all other costs of living. Stop the greedy, power-hungry C.E.O.'s whose sole interest is in trying to increase their own influence and net worth. No country can be strong when its people are pushed aside in favor of foreign workers who are tethered to their jobs by a visa.
Labor contractors are actively discriminating against US citizens in these jobs:

I came up with dozens of hits on posted jobs that either completely exclude Americans because they only hire H-1B visa holders, or they could exclude us at the employer's discretion.
