Wanted to post a quick update since I know a number of people have been following my counting.
Before I get to the numbers, some quick comments / observations:
<div class="indent">Queens county in NY is still not final. I expect another 60k votes there, probably 45k for Obama.</div>
<div class="indent">Prince George's county in Maryland has an odd total ballots cast count. Anyone there know why they would show almost 50% of absentee ballots wouldn't show a vote for President?</div>
<div class="indent">Does anyone know a good way to get total votes cast in the New England states (ME, MA, CT, NH, VT)?</div>
OK, now for the numbers:
<div class="indent">
Total votes cast: 131,858,681
Obama: 69,400,074
McCain: 59,891,544
Margin: 9,508,530
Margin %: 7.21% (52.63% to 45.42%)</div>
I estimate there's probably still another 500k - 600k votes I haven't captured, so total turnout may still hit 132.5 million. And there still seem to be some votes creeping in, so Obama may still hit 69.5 million. The margin of victory will probably stay around 9.5 milliion and 7.2%. (NYC helped that quite a bit.)
Major thanks to the people who have been emailing me updates! You guys know who you are.
It's going to take another couple of weeks to keep updating, and the numbers will be slower to update, but I'll keep posting as I get material changes.
