Obama isn't even in the job yet, and he's already doing what other presidents have taken most of their first year to do. Or in the case of many, never did at all. This really feels good!
If you haven't been to change.gov yet, you really ought to check it out. You will get far more information on what Obama is planning for our nation than you can get from ANY media source.
Of course, the contrasts between the upcoming and the last administration are stunning. But even so, Obama is moving at impressive speed to make very reasonable and much needed changes. Here are just a few differences I have noted:
- He is moving directly into the job, not taking a honeymoon period that all presidents before him, including Clinton, have taken.
- He has selected a large portion of his team across several areas. Remember when this took months into the new year?
- He has specific plans for the economy, etc. developed and communicated (check the website).
- He has established a routine mechanism for 2-way communication with the American people: change.gov. I understand if you leave a comment you will get feedback (not a form letter) from an appropriate official acknowledging and responding to your ideas. Amazing!
- He has made all of the above as transparent as possible (read the policies on the website - they will astound you.)

We really have to appreciate how lucky we are to have this man as the leader of our nation at this time. It is not just due to the failures of the last administration that people are inspired; it is because in every way he has demonstrated that we have a wise and competent leader on board, and just when we need him most.
I know all this sounds corny. But I am happy to say it is completely sincere. I don't agree with Obama on all his views, and I certainly don't think his work will be flawless. But I do wholeheartedly agree with and support Who he is and How he is for our nation.
Real action. Real progress. Real American government. Wow, doesn't THAT feel good.
