It's snowing in Baton Rouge. WTF??
Big, fat flakes. As of this writing, there's 2 inches or so on the ground already. The sun's been up for over an hour and it's still snowing.
Miss Julie knew, before she opened her eyes this morning, that something was different. "It was so quiet," she said.
The forecast yesterday did say there was a slight chance of snow, but all that did was stimulate some conversation around the office about the improbability of it all.
Snow! And the good-packing kind!
UPDATE: Tree branches that had broken off, but not fallen out of the trees ("hangers") during Hurricane Gustav, are now falling from the weight of the snow. One fell straight down and stuck in the ground like a spear near where we were throwing snowballs at each other.
Heh. Hurricanes and snowstorms. Top that! It's been quite a year.
UPDATE 2: School's cancelled! Wow. A snow day. In south Louisiana. Our two cats are completely freaked.
UPDATE 3: Now with video!
P.S. In the video, you can see the remains of one of the trees we had to cut down after Gustav, stacked by the side of the road.
