Alright, I'll come right out and say it: I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to the whole auto bailout issue. I'm not very familiar with all the arguments about employment and the U.S. economy. But I do know this: I'm not sure that it makes much sense for me to support the bailout since I will NEVER buy a car made by GM, Ford, or Chrysler.
[on edit] People need to chill out a bit. I haven't offered an argument why people in general should NOT support the bailout. I've merely asked why someone in my position WOULD support it. No harm in that, is there?
Time and time again I have been disappointed by the quality of both the product and the subsequent service. Honda and Toyota, on the other hand, have kept me happy. Frankly, I really don't understand the whole "American" vs "Foreign" distinction, anyway. I live in Columbus, OH, 30 miles from the Honda plant in Marysville. They hire Americans to build cars in America to sell to Americans. These American workers earn American salaries and get American health care and spend their American money in other American stores. Why are we bailing out only part of the American industry? Does it really matter where the top dog claims residence? All these hardworking Americans in Marysville are part of the American auto industry, in my opinion.
So I'd like to see supporters of the auto bailout answer the following poll honestly.
