So the Electrical College is about to meet in the various States to choose our next president. This Constitutional proceedure always strikes me as curious, but I generally defer to the rule of law unless I have a better idea.
I guess that the Founding Fathers felt strongly that electricians can be relied upon to make this important decision. On balance it appears to have been a good choice. Electicians are probably best positioned to be wired into the body politic. The system has rarely shorted out.
President Nixon, for instance, had a bad experience with the Electrical College in 1960. His later attempt to rely on plumbers proved to be a disaster.
