We will soon enter uncharted territory as a blogosphere: being on the inside, having a GOVERNMENT that is ostensibly acting on behalf of the people we advocated to elect. No, not the Blue Dogs. I mean, Obama himself. This does not mean we agree with everything he does, and it does not mean we don't vociferously advocate for things the Obama Admin and Congressional Dems get wrong. But...
There is going to be an awful lot that goes right that goes unnoticed. Just as Bush was able to gut whole sets of regulations, the Obama Admin is going to reverse the process and more in a number of areas for which we are enthusiastically supportive (energy/tech, health care, net neutrality/media). So... a few proposed new features in extended.
Daily updated approval/disapproval numbers. I remember when Kos first started, we had those on Bush, it would be excellent to have those front and center to watch for Obama.
Regulation Watch. Similar to the "today in Congress" series. Weekly (or more)updates on Admin Exec orders and regulatory changes. While we may see individual diaries on some of these, it would be interesting if these could be cataloged in one place. Since Bushco tried to be sneaky, this was hard to do. I'd expect it would be much easier under an Obama Admin.
The Hillary Files. Weekly updates on the new State Dept. under Hillary Clinton/Hillary's weekly schedule. Good work for any Pumas out there (ha-ha).
Better Dems list. Sometimes positive reinforcement works as well as negative. Maybe we should make a running list of "Better Dems", so we give name to those Congresscritters emulating what we see as "Better Dem" behavior. Maybe nominate a "Better Dem of the Week/Month".
"Taking on the System: Advocacy Stories" People have done a nice job of putting up diaries about individual experiences in personal empowerment (personal health care advocacy, for instance). I wonder if chronicalling these and highlighting these in the way we highlight forgotten diaries, etc. may be a good way to illustrate this important corner of what Progressives do.
