What's wrong with this picture? It's hard to believe that while extremist settlers in Hebron attack Palestinian kids and families, as they have done for years with total impunity, (I've seen it with my own eyes, and Israeli soldiers have written about it extensively), the Israeli gov't is choosing to send to prison Jewish twelfth-graders who refuse to support an occupying army.
If anything, the events in Hebron prove how right these kids are in their choice not to serve the army. What makes it worse, these kids and their Palestinian counterparts have to suffer and even die, in part, because the United States has supported this occupation both economically and diplomatically.
On December 18th, Israel's young conscientious objectors (Shministim, which means "twelfth-grader" in Hebrew), will rally on the steps of the Ministry of Defense and present over 18,000 letters demanding that Israel release all the Shministim.
Listen to Israeli kids speak for themselves and say why they refuse to serve in the army. These kids are our hope. We- all of us who believe in peace and coexistence- need to support them. http://www.december18th.org
