So this year my kids and I have decided we don't need anything. My daughter wanted to give to
an anonymous family.. Or donate to a charity. But she had some friends who's parents had lost
their jobs. So I suggested she donate directly to a family she knows. Problem is, folks don't want
to accept money from a 16 year old. but she insisted, so we mailed it in the form of a gift card, and
said it was from a secret santa. Now her friend is pretty sure she is the secret santa, and my son is
like, "why is it o.k. to accept gifts, but not to give?"
Now I will probably have to take credit, to get the heat off my daughter, and lie, say I get free
gift cards through my credit card service. Which is true, just not the one they got. i wanted to help a
famly too..So I thought hey, my brother-in-laws family, are watching a tv with rabbit ears, maybe I
could help with an upgrade.
They have just settled into the his mothers' house. She passed away last December 29, so this
is their first xmas without her, in her home. She was really sick for awhile, and my brother-in-laws'
family moved in and took care of her. They were holding her hand, and at her bedside when she
died.
They still have boxes in the shed, with all their shit, from their other home. Tammy ( Sister-in-law )
was pretty depressed. It being xmas, and she had been the primary caregiver. I think she was just
wore out. They had cable at their other place, but this house , you can't get cable, Satellite is
the only choice, besides just the local.
So I looked around. I have Directtv myself, but I heard the Dish was a good deal. Well, get this, even
if you get a contract with Dish, they cannot guarantee the price from month to montn. Well, fuck me.
Whats' the point of a contract if the terms and price are not guaranteed. So i went with the basic
package on Directtv, with 3 rooms.
You know, I think they have a monopoly on this service now. I wonder, are there any other companies
besides Directtv and Dish Network. Now I drive by houses, and see those little dishes on peoples roofs,
or their lawns.
But back to the in-laws. They were sooo happy, I signed them up for 18 months, and got it
covered till then..i love giving a gift that keeps on giving. But I hope it dosn't turn them into
tv zombies....150 channels and nothing on hahahah
