I've submitted the following letter to my Senators. And I intend to stick it in the face of every person that attempts to ignore their responsibility as citizens to hold their elected officials accountable. Anything but is completely unacceptable. This election we organized around our candidate and made it happen, a black President, outright blasphemy to the racist America of only forty years ago.
Now instead of going back to your hemp sock factory, and Olbermann/Stewart jerk-off fantasies, stick it in their face. Every last person that says "but 9/11 changed our world" or "the gloves are off after 9/11", turn your attention and set them straight. We are all guilty, unless we do something about it.
Senators Cantwell and Murray,
The Geneva Conventions always apply. Civil Rights always apply. Rule of law always applies. President Bush, Vice President Cheney, Fmr. Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld and every person down the chain to the interrogators need to be held accountable. If they are not, then it will happen again, and again, and again, until someone draws a line in the sand and stands up for the rights handed down by God...by God, to all human beings. These rights are not subject to the interpretations of a lawyer or judge no matter how high the court. No matter how effective, no matter how satisfying, no matter how the ends may justify the means, torture violates the natural rights of man. God gave you the right, and as a woman you stood up and took it. Now stand up for someone else, and bring the war criminals to justice, or history will make you bedfellows.
I expect you to hold them accountable, or my vote will hold you accountable.
