Here's how.
It would be churlish to dis-invite Warren, so Obama should just invite Gene Robinson, the openly gay, non-celibate, Episcopal Bishop of New Hampshire to speak or pray at some inaugural event.
This would show a true willingness to be the President of ALL Americans!
Imagine the conversation this would start in the country.
Robinson has a great life story. He has experienced more than most of us. He was born into a very poor, rural community. As a child he was very ill and was not expected to live.
Robinson has been a small businessman (with his wife) and he has an understanding of human weakness through his battles with alcoholism. He has continually followed his religious calling.
Robinson has experienced heterosexual marriage as well as fatherhood. He is a grandfather and is very close to his daughters. And he has been with his partner in a committed relationship since 1987.
Bishop Robinson has been in the center of the storm for a number of years. Obama could make a great symbolic outreach to the LGBT community by this act.
